Crooner Brian Evans and Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee Talk Politics in Austin
Los Angeles, CA (Billboard Publicity Wire) October 17, 2007 -- Brian Evans, the singer who has performed as the opening act for such stars as Jay Leno, Joan Rivers, Dionne Warwick, and Social Distortion, and who is currently recording a new album of original big band songs, performed on October 6th, 2007 in Austin, Texas.
Evans, who once ran for the US Senate in 2004 while residing in Hawaii, performed a private show that included various presidential candidates for the republican party.
"I'm as democratic as they get, so it was refreshing to see that the republicans liked my music," laughs Evans.
Now a resident of Los Angeles, Evans has been writing and arranging new material for his debut album in the United States. Evans has released various CD's independently in other countries, but this will be his first widely publicized released in the United States.
"There is no one writing original material in this genre," says Evans. You have a few competitors proclaiming that they are 'crooners', but if you listen to the original songs they are writing, they sound more like Anne Murray than Frank Sinatra and that's not what the genre needs, nor can you pretend those type of songs are crooner tunes. The genre is missing new standards, not CD's that feature standards and include a few original songs aimed more at radio play than sustaining the genre," says Evans.
Evans, who is also developing a TV series for a major network based on fiction, has plenty of irons in the fire.
"I'm always doing something, but I dig it when something I do is totally unexpected, and there are some things coming down the pipe that people won't believe I'm a part of. I know it, because I can't even believe I'm a part of it," Evans concludes.
Evans once appeared on shows such as "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Full House" in the mid-90's, but has been performing as the opening act for various headline acts since 1998 after a two year stint in Canada brought the singer national attention in that country.
His CD "Brian Evans", featuring material released overseas, is available at www.bmgdirect.com or ITunes, Amazon.com (downloads) or Sony Connect among others.
Brian's website is www.brianevans.com, and he also has a MySpace page at www.myspace.com/brianevansonline

The Politics of Health
I was thinking about the quarrel (well, fight to the death, actually) between conventional medicine and alternatives like herbal or holistic medicine. So, I did some research to see if I could figure out what's the big beef between these to approaches to healing. I always believed that herbal medicine pre-dated conventional medicine by thousands of years. It turns out that it doesn't, not by THOUSANDS, anyway! Conventional medicine appears to be younger than herbal medicine by only about 1,100 years.
