A World of Possibilities Announces New Series of Podcasts on Good Politics Radio
Anchorage, AK (PRWEB) February 29, 2008 -- The weekly radio show, A World of Possibilities, hosted by Mark Sommer, announces a new schedule of future audio podcasts on Good Politics Radio. New programs will be podcast on February 26, March 4, 11, and 18 on the Good Politics Radio internet site, www.GoodPoliticsRadio.com.
The February 26 podcast is entitled, "Russia Resurgent: The Once and Future Superpower." Guests Rose Gottemoeller of the Carnegie Moscow Center; Georgi Bovt, columnist for the Moscow Times; and Clifford Gaddy of the Brookings Institution discuss Russia's comeback from its economic and political collapse and considers the impact of Russia's re-emergence as a major global force.
The March 4 podcast is entitled, "Savoring Swine: The Economics and Politics of Pork." Sommer's guests include authors Michael Pollan and Temple Grandin; Paul Willis, manager of Niman Ranch Pork Company in Thornton, Iowa; and Mark Bogess, director of Animal Science, National Pork Board. The panel investigates the business of producing pork products in America and the related economics and politics of pork production.
The March 11 podcast is entitled, "The Pragmatic Push to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons," and is funded by the Ploughshares Foundation. Sommer's guests include Jhanata Dhanapala, former U.N. disarmament official; Barry Blechman, Brookings Institution; Ambassador James Goodby, former U.S. negotiator; and Natalie Goldring, University of Maryland. The panel discusses the ever-growing consensus that the world should be free of nuclear weapons and the complications posed by the U.S. foreign policy relations with Russia, China, Iraq, and Iran.
The March 18 podcast is entitled, "What is Wealth? Passing on the Gift." Sommer's guests include Bill Gates Sr., father of Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates; Chuck Collins, Institute for Policy Studies; Gretchen Daily, Stanford University; and Jonathan Rowe, Tomales Bay Institute. The panel discusses the idea that much private wealth is generated from common resources: air, water, soil, schools, and government loans. Some of the wealthy are now saying that their wealth is not theirs alone but the collective accomplishment of many.
